Hey Robin, the islands are Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, he will be staying at both.Hey Rick., where in Belize? I was there for a couple of months and fished a few areas there and it depends if he wants to fish for bones, permit, tarpon, cudas, or? There is a variety of flats, channel, rivers and mountains.
That gets me started, I will some research.A lot of Charlie / shrimp style patterns for bones, merkins and mantis for permit, standard poon flies (deceivers etc) and maybe a couple of needlefish flies and poppers with wire leaders for cudas. I'd send you some of my saltwater fly pattern books but everything is in boxes as we are soon to get the house painted inside...
I can see some will be easier to purchase than tieYes good.

Glad is was a successful trip for you.My 3 best producers for bonefish in that area: Pop's Bitters, Greg's Flats Fly (https://diyflatsfishing.wordpress.com/tag/gregs-flats-fly/ ) and Bonefish Junk. The smaller Permit will take all of there, if they are biting that day (don't count on it).

Thanks, robinwakefield. Been down in that neck of the woods 3 times, along the Mexico/Belize border and prefer the Mexican side of Chetumal as it is more protected, has many more DIY options and is easier on the wallet. Likely headed that way again in the fall in search of the elusive "Permit to hand" ....... sigh .......Glad is was a successful trip for you.
It took me 3 trips and a lot of bent out flies, broken rods and seized reels before I got any of those black tailed devils. Thanks, robinwakefield.
