Pheasant hurl

I recently came across a recipe which requested pheasant hurl, where does the pheasant hurl come from? I liked the brown color versus the green color of the peacock. I understand peacock hurl, but pheasants don't have those display feathers like a peacock.

Its just tail feathers, you strip off a few of the fibers and wrap

Yeah, that was my guess. Calling those hurls instead of barbs was a bit confusing.

ostrich and peacock fibers from the tails of the bird are referred to as herls. Herl is also an old term for a strand of hair.
