Chironomid Challenge

Last June, fishing one of the local ponds here in the Cariboo, I pumped a decent sized fish and the contents of its stomach was full of a Chironomid that I hadn't seen before. This Chironomid was a size 12-14 and was half black and half silver, parallel down the middle. Has anyone else come across the variation of the Chironomid? I tied up a couple. Would love to see some of your ties, please feel free to share.....

Last year was my year to fill up a big part of my box with 16s to 20s. Have plenty to last for a few years.

When the fish are really picky it sure is nice to have an exact fit for size.

I do toe some in a glassworm resemblance at that size and it has worked.

I know Im not the only one tying Chironomids right now, please feel free to jump in guys! :)

Last year in June I came across a new chironomid as well. It was a size 12 bomber style. It was golden brown with black ribbing. Super cool looking. This was not my picture but I am sharing it because it’s the same exact chironomid

Tied these to try get on some fish. The front one with cranberry wrap worked. Not a great match but was close enough that day.

Nice ties, @Scott D well done, those will fish good! Its fun finding new bugs, I only wished I would have taken a picture of the 1/2 and 1/2 black and chrome after the pump, this year!
